The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival welcomes back a piece of Martinique’s musical culture: the Joselita and Claude Germany Chouval Bwa, a manually-operated merry-go-round that encircles a group of musicians playing the drums, bamboo flute, and accordion. The rhythmic music of the chouval bwa (Creole for “wooden horse”) and the colorful carousel itself delighted the crowds when they previously appeared at the festival in 2002 and 2010, and are once again proving to be a big hit!
